Spring showers bring May flowers—and storms that can get downright scary through the summer months. Here’s some great resources from and FEMA that will help you make plans to protect your four-legged family members!

The Basics:

  1. Make a plan for your pets.
  2. Never leave your pet behind.
  3. Take 3 days supply of food, water and medicine for each pet. If you keep these items in your prep kit, make sure to change them out periodically as medicine and food may go bad.
  4. Heading to a shelter? Make sure beforehand that they accept pets. Check this list of hurricane shelters in Honolulu County for pet-friendly shelters, but be sure to call and confirm that they still accept pets.

The following FEMA video will give you more tips for getting you and your pets prepped for bad weather scenarios.
