If you haven’t already met Ricochet, you’re in for a real treat. My cousin forwarded me the link to Ricochet’s U-Tube video, and it brought tears to my eyes. Here’s a summary from her webpage, but do take a moment and watch her video. In a world that’s gone crazy, there are still some wonderful people. . . and some wonderful dogs. http://www.surfdogricochet.com:80/Welcome.htm
I’m really stoked you surfed over to my website! Thank you for wanting to learn more about me, the work I do, and my surfing. I live a lifestyle of helping others by pawing it forward, while raising awareness and funds for human/animal causes. My focus is on assisting the disabled community, in a non traditional SURFice dog kind of way! I have raised over $22,000 in an 8 month period, and am ready to raise more!
My SURFice dog initiatives are part of my alma mater, Puppy Prodigies, a 501(c)3 non profit organization that trains service dogs for people with disabilities. I’m probably best known for my inspirational video, “From Service Dog to SURFice Dog” (see below). It went viral, and touched the lives of millions of people. Since it got so much attention, I immediately turned it into a platform to help others on a larger scale by raising more awareness for charitable causes.
I’m a specially trained dog, and started learning the day I was born! I have the temperament, and advanced training of a service dog. But, because I have an interest in birds, I couldn’t be a traditional service dog, so Puppy Prodigies coined the name SURFice dog® especially for me, and it even came with a trademark! Because I’m a pretty good surfer, and enjoy working with the adaptive surfing community… the name really fits. I like it because it really describes what I do with one word. SURFice!! I’m also a certified goal directed therapy dog.
I surf for fun, and win contests too. My best win was at the 2009 Helen Woodward Surf dog Surf-a-thon where I came in 2nd overall. The winning dog was Buddy, and he is the best surfing dog around, so just to be near him in placement was huge!
